Blog 9- Conclusion
To conclude this series of blogs I will be discussing the development of my choreography and what I would do differently in the future. Referring back to Blog 1, I discussed how the stimulus image led to my creative process of Locked- in Syndrome. This affected my creative process as the movements are a reflection of the powerful thoughts happening inside the body and how we can translate that through artistry. To allow the audience to visualise Locked- in syndrome there are moments in the choreography where the dancer is standing almost disassociated which reflects the shield and how isolated it feels. During the process of creating the choreography it was interesting to have other dancers to collaborate with as they interpreted similarly but had different ideas for the movements. This allowed us to explore a large variety of interpretations which we can use to help develop our own individuality during our own performance.

I think I achieved the theme of Locked- In syndrome well as each movement had a meaning that linked back to the feeling of being trapped and isolated. For example, in my section the movements were inspired by thoughts swirling around in the head and trying to break an infinite cycle. I also was inspired by the stimulus image of being trapped in a room. This helped me to visualise movements as it felt like I was battling against space. This shows the dancer fighting for the audience to understand them and the contrast between the stillness of their physical state against the frustration and internal anger. Overall, I believe the creation of the solo was a difficult yet inspiring challenge. It allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and become a new character. I benefited from working with other people as it allowed me to broaden my choreography knowledge and learn to adapt to new interpretations. In the future, I would like to create more of my movements from using improvisation from myself and others. I think this would allow me to create spontaneous movements and more original content.

I think you have made good progress from week 1 and your piece has come together nicely.
ReplyDeleteIf you could change one thing about your provess what would it be?
ReplyDeleteIn the future, I would like to use more intrecet movements and choreograph around my weaker areas in order to develop my choreographic skills.
